The Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern is a non-profit association based in Kaiserslautern. The SIAK was initiated in 2007 by the University of Kaiserlautern-Landau (RPTU). The motives were to ensure effective coordination of current research issues with a broad scientific approach and to support the development of the science and innovation region of Kaiserslautern. Initially, the SIAK, which was called Science Alliance until 2017, only comprised the scientific institutions in Kaiserslautern. In 2015, the alliance was also opened up to the business community and was renamed the Science and Innovation Alliance Kaiserslautern in 2017.
